YouTube as a press distribution channel in Spain
Abstract
We are witnessing an unprecedented development of web traffic in digital native newspapers, so that we can already refer to a manifest coexistence between these media and the matrix ones. This emerging phase of the natives as reference media in the Spanish press allows us to identify a revitalization of digital journalism. From an exploratory approach based on a mixed methodology that combines quantitative and qualitative techniques, we analyze the presence of these newspapers on YouTube and the narratives used to disseminate content. We diagnose crossmedia practices and channels based on the journalistic specialization areas. The results are presented from a comparative perspective between traditional and digital native newspapers.
