Morning Magazines in the Spanish Public Television (1987-2019): the Transformations of a Dynamic Format
Abstract
Morning magazines are one of the most distinctive formats in television. Since the opening of this daypart in the late 1980s, these spaces have evolved over time to suit the changing trend of the television paradigm and technological evolution. This research seeks to understand the transformations that the format has undergone, through the quantitative and qualitative content analysis and in-depth interviews, as well as to determine to what extent public television has influenced the development of morning magazines. The results reveal a shift from the more classic container format to a focus on talk shows, breaking news and live connections.
