Informative programs in general television in Spain 2005-2010
Abstract
This article focuses on television news in the period between 2005 and 2010. During those years the television industry experienced a transition towards a more competitive model, with more reception options and a more fragmented audience. Two new competitors (Cuatro and La Sexta) entered the generalist television and two mergers were prepared: Cuatro and Telecinco would form the Mediaset España group and Antena 3 TV and La Sexta would constitute the Atresmedia group. The objective of this work is the study of the informative programs that integrated the grills of the national generalist chains. To address it, the relevant academic literature has been reviewed, while a quantitative methodology has been followed.
