An analysis of the news anchors during the Franco Regime (1956–1975)
Abstract
This article analyzes the TV news anchors from the beginning of the first broadcasts of Televisión Española in 1956 until the death of General Franco in 1975. Content analysis and the semi-structured interview are the methodologies used. For the analysis, an original coding template is used to measures aspects of the verbal and non-verbal communication of each news anchor from the examined sample, as well as the scenic characteristics of the TV news, while the interview method is applied to some of the presenters of the time. The work contextualizes the history of television during the years of the Franco Regime.
