Abstract

On August 5, 2015, Chilean General Manuel Contreras, director of the DINA, died between 1973 and 1977, and he was serving 549 years in prison for human rights violations. From the news that generated his death, the media memory built by the main newspapers of the country around the figure of the general questioned was studied. It is proposed that the newspapers framed the death of Contreras in certain frames: Death and Funeral Rite; Justice and Human Rights, and Political reactions.
