News-writing style between 16th and 17th centuries: epistolary handbooks
Abstract
The informative discourse derive from Rhetoric. In particular, Epistolary Rhetoric established the bases of the informative style. In an attempt of “informar a los ausentes” with decorum an efficiency, non-humanistic epistolary handbooks transmitted principles and recommendations that, on occasion, are still applicable to Informative Journalism.
