The photographic construction of international reality in the Cuban national newspapers "Granma" and "Juventud Rebelde"
Abstract
This article characterizes the photographic construction of international reality in the Cuban national newspapers Granma and Juventud Rebelde. For it, a theoretical proposal about the studies of issuers (communication theory and sociology) and the journalistic ethics (philosophy and the general theory of journalism) is utilized. Bibliographic-documentary and ethnographic methods, and bibliographic review, participant observation and field notes are assumed; through structured interviews with experts and specialists in the subject, the results of the study are validated. As a fundamental result of the investigation, the manner in which Granma and Juventud Rebelde journalists claim to legitimize these media as objectives based on an ideological commitment that conforms with Cuban foreign policy is recognized. Thus, the photographic message is constructed in favor of favoring political allies and discrediting the opponents of the Cuban government.Downloads
