Senses of the language about older unemployed in the digital press
Abstract
Unemployment is a social phenomenon who affects the Spanish society, being merciless with certain profiles who intensely suffer from it. This is the case of the unemployed older than 45. Digital press describes their problems in different terms, from which social controversies integrated on their speeches emerge. This essay clarify the media view of unemployment of people older than 45 from the point of view of the uses of language used by the press. Through discourse analysis of the main Spanish newspapers, it is figured out the senses of the language used by the press to refer to older unemployed. From this analysis twelve perspectives are derived, which uncover the views about older unemployed. It is concluded that the discourse of the press mainly offers views highly focused on the vulnerability and shows a picture of the training for older people related to the compensation of training scarcities.Downloads
