Abstract

In Ecuador, the organic law of communication (OLC) gave way to the emergence of new regulations, which weakened the power of the media, which were concentrated on some wealthy families. Among these norms there are new legal figures, such as media lynching and previous censorship, which, during the approval process of the OLC caused a strong controversy in the legislative and in the public spheres. This research evaluates and analyzes the perception that the Ecuadorian journalists have about media lynching. The research has a qualitative-quantitative approach and its depth degree is explanatory. For this in this investigation it was applied a nonprobabilistic interview for convenience of the Ecuadorian journalists. At the end of the investigation, it was determined that the figure of media lynching has aspects in which there is no proper understanding and it generates doubts in its correct application.
