Conceptual Evolution of the museum as a space for communication
Abstract
This paper focuses on the concept museum and its evolution from its traditional role to the communicative one which drifts towards a new understanding of this organisation. The methodology undertaken consists of a thematic research and analysis of the definitions adopted by different outstanding national and international organizations related to museums from 1946 until today. Results show a new conception of corporate communication as a strategic tool for managing these organisations. Conclusions arisen demonstrate in which way museums have transformed in the last decades, evolving from static places to open and communicative arenas where dialogue and social inclusion are encouraged.Downloads
