Quality indicators in the coverage of the Boston Marathon attacks on Spanish TV
Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to define the parameters or indicators of quality in international news in television. The analysis focuses on a global event: the bombing at the Boston Marathon. The research analyses the information issued in the second edition of daily news in television channels in Spain: TVE, Antena 3, Telecinco, Cuatro and La Sexta. Through indicators such as processing and presentation, actors of information, news values and format coverage, we compare the contents offered by the different channels. The nature of the event, live connections, chronicles, local adaptations, social media, surveillance cameras, home videos and photographs are elements that determine a more emotive than informative treatment.Downloads
