Non-fiction book as intercultural and educational tool: analysis of The Book of Greeting
Abstract
This paper proposes a study of the non-fiction book as a tool for developing intercultural skills within the framework of the knowledge society. To do this, an analysis of The Book of Greetings is provided as an example of non-fictional reading in order to show its potential as an intercultural didactic resource that responds to the hybrid model of efferent and aesthetic reading. The results of the analysis, based on formal and content parameters, affect the construction of discourse from textual and visual strategies that appeal to arouse the reader's curiosity about languages and cultures as identity constructions in our society, and also, the activation of reading strategies such as inferring, deducing, relating, as well as the stimulation of empathic and creative abilities that lead the reader to approach other sources of information in the digital environment.
