Abstract
The methodology of language and literature is a new field that has to be consolidated both from a scientific and a practical perspective. Up until recently it had been developed along two different lines: a theoretical and a practical one. This paper is intended as a contribution to the historical grounding of the discipline. To that end, the paradigm in which it is currently situated is discussed and its previous tendencies are analyzed. By doing so, we expect to lay tbe foundations Didáctica, 10, 215-231.
