A reflexion about The Christs of Andrés Serrano
Abstract
Andres Serrano's picture, Piss Christ, is a photograph of crucifix submerged in the own's author urine, this picture with other crucifixions have caused a great polemic not only in the contemporary art field, but also in the American Senate and in the religious field. With this kind of pictures, their finality and their significance are questioned. The objective of this essay is to offer a reflection about life and death basing on Serrano's pictures and interviews, so that, I will Schopenhauer's concepts of body, life and death in order to reflect on Serrano's pictures and take a personal posture about the significance of life and death according to the pictures of the artist.Downloads
