Anatomy of the art scandal: a hermeneutic look at the discourses of contemporary visual arts linked to ethical-moral indignation
Abstract
This research work is nourished by contemporary art production in visual matters to motivate a pertinent and necessary study on the limits of its own legitimacy by being based on highly controversial manifestations that, in addition to raising claim constructs, are also questionable in themselves about the ethical and moral by the nature in which they have been formed. The cardinal objective of this elucidated premise is to identify those red lines of the unacceptable when creating a work of art that, although it intends to denounce situations of injustice, ends up distorting its focus towards a political-social debate on the tolerance of its own existence as a contribution to the universe of socially engaged art. Through theorists such as Adut, Rancière or Krauss, and the productions of artists such as Delvoye, Martens or Habacuc, the intricacies raised here are unraveled. As conclusive aspects to highlight, the art community is challenged to rethink not only the issuance of a specific message that invites change, but also the reception of it, involving all kinds of factors, from the context for which it is directed to the very inherent style of the work.
