¡Atención Madrid! Edgar Neville at Madrid’s Front Radio and Propaganda Company through his diaries
Abstract
The main objective of this study is the research of Edgar Neville’s personal and autobiographical documentation —diaries, short stories, radio scripts, etc.— during the Spanish Civil War which is archived in the Spanish National Library. Through this documentation, we study how Edgar Neville’s life was at Madrid’s front during the second half of 1937 and which were his duties as a radio speaker, editor, photographer, rocket-launcher and even as a cook at Radio AZ. Also, his testimony is vital to reconstruct the history of the first Radio and Propaganda Company at Madrid’s front. These contribute to add new data and roles that were missing at the moment since official documentation starts in 1938.
