Libertarias: Vicente Arands’s Hedonistic Discourse
Abstract
This paper analyzes Vicente Aranda’s style in his film Libertarias (1996). On the perspective of textual analysis, the methodology is applied focusing on various narrative and discursive aspects of the film’s creative process. The conclusions of this article show a playful and hedonistic attitude of the filmmaker in the treatment of a story which contains the recurring features of the director’s filmography, both in the scriptwriting and the aesthetic of the film.
