• An approach to the complexity of the notions of boys, girls and childhood in Colombia
Abstract
The idea of this article has its roots in the Colombia Childhood Studies Colloquium, carried out in October 2022. During this event, a wide diversity of perspectives and focuses on the category of childhood were highlighted. In this context and inspired by the previous work of Tesar (2011), the promoters of the colloquium invited different scholars and researchers to take part in this collective writing experiment with the invitation to respond to the following questions: How could we define children? y/o How could we define childhood in the Colombian context? The invitation was accepted by thirteen scholars who, from their disciplines, investigations, personal and professional trajectories, approached — in no more than five hundred words — the article topic. The result is a collective writing that attempts to show the variety and complexity of the notion of children and childhood in Colombia.
