Indigenous Children in Bogotá, on vulnerable/agented Duality
Abstract
There are currently ten indigenous early childhood education and care structures in Bogotá, recognized by the local government. These institutions propose a form of early childhood care based on their ethnic background, recognized as a vulnerable population. Through a combined methodology, this article presents the case of three care and education spaces for indigenous children, two conventional and one indigenous, where vulnerability and agency are performed by the children. The first results show that agency and vulnerability are not given categories, but rather performative ones, and they both depend on the situation, its limitations and possibilities.
