Assessment of the compliance of the Complutense University Library thesaurus according to the UNE/ISO 25964 standard
Abstract
Complutense University of Madrid uses a digital thesaurus created in 1997 to facilitate the indexing of its collections and the retrieval of bibliographic information from the Cisne catalog by any potential user. The aim of this study is to conduct an evaluation of the quality of the Complutense Digital Thesaurus using the ISO 25964-1:2011 standard as a reference and identifying those aspects that could require improvement. The results indicate that the degree of compliance of the Complutense Digital Thesaurus with the specifications of the UNE-ISO 25964-1 standard shows areas that could be improved, some of them easy to correct, such as some of the errors found in some terms and records, although others more significant that should be taken into account in any thesaurus, such as those aspects related to its documentation, maintenance, and updating.
