The oral skill English level in bilingual and non-bilingual educational centres of Castilla-La Mancha
Abstract
The number of schools with bilingual programmes has increased reasonably in Spain and the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology is very popular right now in a national and in an international level. For this reason, the number of students joining bilingual programmes is increasing but, do the programmes work? This research aims to analyse, through oral tests, the differences in the English level, in oral skills, between 4th year secondary school students belonging to bilingual and non-bilingual programmes in the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha. With the obtained information, we can determine if the bilingual programmes increase the oral skills, in English language, of the students immersed in them. In addition, we will establish a comparison between the results acquired in the bilingual programme of Castilla-La Mancha and other programmes developed in different autonomous communities of Spain and Europe in order to identify the existing similarities and differences.
