Dual Vocational Training in the company from the perspective of its protagonists
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Dual Vocational Training develops teaching-learning processes in two institutions: the educational center, where students acquire competencies related to the degree, and the company, where they put into practice professional competences that complement acquired learning. Three agents act in this training modality: students and tutors from the educational center and the Company. The aim of the study is to know the development of Dual VT in a company to identify perceived needs by agents involved in it. METHOD: A qualitative methodology based on a single case study has been carried out. The unit of analysis is the company and the informants are students and tutors of the company and the educational center. Data collection has been carried out through discussion groups and has been categorized and analyzed following the process of content analysis with MAXQDA program (v.20). RESULTS: The results are grouped into three categories: personal and professional profile, development of Dual VT and detected training needs. These results show the importance of training students in professional skills, the significance of tutoring, the need for coordination between the educational center and the company, monitoring by the tutors of the educational centers and training of the company tutors. DISCUSSION: We conclude that it is convenient to activate strategies to improve the quality of Dual VT, promote coordination between educational centers and companies and establish specific training for company tutors.
