Abstract

Satisfaction in teaching is a recurring theme in educational research; however, there has been very little written on analysing the personal and professional satisfaction of teachers in their mentoring functions with their homeroom classes, especially in primary education. This paper presents the process of development and validation of a survey to determine the degree of satisfaction of primary school teachers in Andalusia in carrying out their mentoring functions with their homeroom. A 44 item survey was designed and filled out by 1755 Andalusian homeroom teachers. A reliability analysis was performed using Cronbach’s alpha (.916), content validity and construct, giving the latter a group of items around 5 dimensions. The survey’s reliability was measured according to Cronbach’s alpha. The complete survey was .916 and for each section it was .637 or higher. After analysing the data, it has been concluded that the survey is accurate and reliable, adequately reporting the opinions of Andalusian primary school teachers in their function as a mentor for their homeroom classes.
