Exit Exam for Basic Education in the Area of Health (EXEEBAS for short in Spanish): unidimensionality analysis
Abstract
The promotion of health in schools is important to reduce the sufferings, diseases and associated costs. The Mexican curriculum has included health as one of the eleven issues of social relevance. The topics that try to develop a health culture in the students are scattered throughout the curriculum of basic education, but it is unknown at which level graduates dominate such content. The Exit Exam for Basic Education in the Area of Health (EXEEBAS for short in Spanish) evaluates the extent to which graduates from ninth grade dominate the essential contents in this area. The aim of the study is to show evidence of the EXEEBAS unidimensionality. It was applied to 14,545 ninth grade students enrolled in the 2014-15 school year in Baja California. The results show that there is evidence to say that the EXEEBAS is valid and reliable in general terms, but reviewing the unidimensionality by forming lines, some present areas of improvement.
