Abstract

April 1919 marks the beginning of the school that reformulated the world of art, architecture and design. That month the students passed for the first time through the centre's doors at the Bauhaus in Weimar. They were determined to distance themselves from the traditional teaching methods. Their revolution has left an undeniable mark on the artistic disciplines in terms of results, didactic and theoretical framework. However, we cannot forget the mystical lightness derived from groundbreaking criteria which destroyed the idea of monumentality, as well as the tendency of many to imitate. Consequently the photographic recreation carried out in 2019 by the students and the faculty members of the Centro de Estudios Superiores Universitarios de Galicia seeks to check on the suitability and validity of the teaching methodologies used by the German school. A century later, twenty-five images in black and white, will serve to vindicate the best of his heritage.
