Educommunicating climate change, analysis in the media and from the perspective of environmental education
Abstract
Educommunication can be one of the most useful tools to approach and train citizens in matters of public interest and high transversality that allow social change oriented to ecological transition. This is possible thanks to the conjunction of formative processes intrinsic to the professional practice of communication and media tools. This article aims to analyze longitudinally over three years (2019, 2020 and 2021), and transversally in three different media (press, radio and television), how the Spanish media offer educational-communicative content on climate change (CC), assessing its intensity and educational mediation. The results offer a set of perspectives that could easily be coupled as indicators on how to offer a more complete, contextualized and formative vision from the perspective of environmental education, taking into account aspects of educommunication that could become effective recommendations of immediate application for the media.
