Abstract

In this paper we will focus en the necessity of teaching vocabulary and how to do it in an effective way. We have considered some relevant aspects of the processes of second language acquisition, as for example the «Mental Lexicon» and the strategies which students of English have to develop to acquire vocabulary. Finally, to illustrate the theoretical concepts presented, we propose a practical activity to teach vocabulary in a context within the English classroom.
