Education and learning of the appropriateness of language: study of emotive and conative functions from a literary example to analyse and reformulate
Abstract
This article proposes several exercises (to compartmentalize a complex communication, to analyse it and to reformulate it) insisting especially on the analysis of the use of the emotive and conative functions of language. These exercises are addressed to undergraduate or master students who will become communicators (teachers, lecturers, etc.) and are based on a discourse by Benito Pérez Galdós which is shown as an unsuccessful communication (despite the communicator’s confidence and eloquence) that students will have to reformulate according to their prior knowledge on the two functions and their expressive mechanisms.Downloads
