Exploring transdisciplinarity at the Banquet_nodes and networks: a qualitative study of Karin Ohlenschläger’s project for training in teacher education degrees
Abstract
This article addresses a qualitative investigation of the works presented in the project Banquete_nodos y redes, directed by Karin Ohlenschläger, to explore the overcoming of borders in the context of transdisciplinarity. A theoretical framework is established that examines this concept and traces a genealogy of the most relevant centers in transdisciplinarity and medialabs, with a special focus on three Spanish centers with which Ohlenschläger was closely associated. A detailed description of Banquete_nodos and networks, including their works and participating artists, is provided. This is followed by a table categorizing all the data collected using the categorization system chosen in the methodology employed. The results are discussed around four themes: Education, Art, Politics, and New Technologies. Finally, conclusions are drawn that highlight the interdisciplinary value as a driver of social transformation, underlining the importance of taking advantage of new technologies in a non-linear approach to knowledge and its globalization, instead of a classical conception that fragments it.
