Abstract

From one's own body to relational space, from the collective body to potential space, from the potential body to expanded space. Based on three collections of art works and performances, this article delves into the exploration of the hypothesis that space is revealed to us through the body and its movement. In a methodological process of analyzing, mapping, collecting, and conversing on these collections, we can observe that space is not only a material, static and visible dimension that contains us and that happens in the here and now, but that it is also the product of loads, movements, and extensions, both of the body itself and of the relations of collective bodies. The back and forth between theoretical reflections and the study of spatial practices allows us to identify and discuss concepts such as the appearance of the trace, understood as a possibility of extending the movement of a body; the collective and the vulnerable of the body when it becomes aware of its own limits in relation to space; as well as the emergence of a common spatiality through the movement of "other" bodies.
