Abstract
This paper analyzes some aspects of Claudia del Ríos’ work, a renowned contemporary Argentinian artist. In particular, it investigates her questioning of the commonplaces about creation and her contribution to art’s social construction through the establishment and support of exchange and collective production’s spaces. To this end, some aspects of her artistic practice from the eighties to the present day are addressed, with special attention to drawing and the lines of work inside the expanded graphics’ field. Moreover, attention is paid to her professional performance inside and outside of artistic institutions, like the teaching at the Rosario National University and the creation of self-administered spaces, such as the Club del Dibujo and the Pieza Pizarrón. The work with primary sources from Claudia del Río’s archive and with testimonies gathered from interviews with artists are articulated with references to her book Ikebana politic, which was fundamental to understanding her critical, aesthetic and ethical position in regards to artistic creation and education.
