El nomadismo latente de la ciudad sedentaria. Entrevista a Francesco Careri
Abstract
Francesco Careri is an architect, professor at the Università Roma Tre, director of two Master degrees and author of the cult book Walkscapes, walking as an aesthetic practice (2017, 2nd. Ed.), which has inspired artists, architects and thinkers. He is also co-founder of the artistic laboratory Stalker/Osservatorio Nomade, with which he has carried out numerous public art actions and participated in several architecture biennials in Venice. But he likes to present himself simply as a poet, a playful and harmless figure who climbs walls to penetrate urban voids and open the way to new meanings. Careri's poetry is made to be walked, with your feet, from the ground, out of the city of the spectacle, out of conventional representations, into the urban interstices, to explore, understand and give voice to the nomadic city that lives in the heart of the sedentary city. This is where the "New Babylonians" live, with whom Careri builds a social, revolutionary and nomadic architecture, following Constant’s footsteps. Since 2018, year in which I was on a research stay on walking and participated in several walks with him, we have maintained a close collaboration. This interview was conducted online on March 31st. 2021.
