Pop Infiltrations in the Urban Imaginary. The Case of Pravda, la survireuse (Peellaert, Thomas, 1967).
Abstract
The article investigates the conformation of the urban imaginary through comics and very specifically through the case of Pravda, la survireuse (Peellaert, Thomas,1967). For this purpose, crossed relations between comics and academic positions have been explored, mainly represented by the visions of Venturi and Scott Brown, investigating the urban thought through visual narration. Here we find a way of illustrating the city through the incipient post-modern myths such as youth, desire, non-conformism or women's liberation. All of this will emerge in a city that is staged in the graphic narrative through the different spaces of post-modernity: the pop city, the screen architecture, the terrain vague, the flipper-city, the abandoned neighbourhoods, the lysergic landscapes, the artificial nature or the theme park. The metropolis is presented under the codes of pop, which give support to the city show spaces by exhibiting a public space transformed under the laws of advertising.
