The artistic deposit of Zaragoza during the Civil War
Abstract
This paper contributes ground-breaking research into the patrimony stored by the city of Zaragoza during the Spanish Civil War, a subject which so far has gone unheeded by art and history disciplines. The remarkable ensemble was shifted to Zaragoza by the Servicio de Defensa del Patrimonio Artístico Nacional (Office for the Defence of National Artistic Heritage). The process of relocation, storage and return of the salvaged cultural assets is explored and assessed.
