Object, wall and floor in art installations. Spatial categories in some pioneering works by Spanish women at the end of the 20th
Abstract
This paper studies several spatial resources developed by the art installations. These works are a hybrid between architecture, sculpture and other artistic disciplines, where the object settles peculiar relationships with the wall or the floor of the room, and finally with the viewer, who is always looking for the temporality and the process. So, a relational space between subject and object, with a noticeable scenic character, is produced with spatial categories such as the creation of a new three-dimensionality around the pieces, the inclusion of the viewer or the configuration of the container, not only geometric, but also phenomenological with light and sound. The analysis is supported by graphic instruments such as axonometries and plants, essential to run the complex plans of architecture, installations, audiovisual media or fashion, which cannot be made directly by its author, and require a preliminary idea, then came to an agreement on a technical representation, called a project, for transmission to the production system.
