Inquiries on Matters Relating to the Processes of Artistic Creation from Practice
Abstract
This article proposes an approach to the construction of meanings during the processes of creation. It is an inquiry on matters relating to this process made from one’s own creative experience. We aim to recognise some of the creative motivations, focusing on ways of defining interests and communicative intentions. We accept from the beginning that creative intentions can be volatile, diffuse and changing as are interpretations engendered by artworks over time. The own creative experience will be the research material with the advantages (proximity of the experience) and the disadvantages (subjective deviation). We play down any striving for a methodological generalisation. However, other authors may have experienced parallel processes. The concept of “artistic research”, currently being discussed, shall serve as a theoretical framework.
