Abstract

In the artistic creation, paper is one of the materials which is used as an indispensable support due to its great versatility. So, there are a lot of artists working with this material in their different configurations. In this way, we find artistic works that consider paper as a support and building material with which we can create and combine different plastic elements.

Therefore, this work is an investigation which presents in a summarized way all the processes and materials that artists use with the aim of creating works with paper pulps.

The main part of this work shows some of the multiples possibilities and expresive combinations that pastes made up by artists offer. They are described all the processes, tools and materials which are used in the works. Besides, diverse variations by the artists are included to optimize the expresive character. Works researched in this article are from artists with recognized international prestige as Chuck Close, David hockney, Bill Weege or Lucio Muñoz.

Author Biographies

José Villalba, Universidad de Murcia, Campus Mare Nostrum

Artista y Profesor Contratado Doctor de Didáctica de la Expresión Plástica de la Universidad de Murcia. Su línea de investigación versa respecto a nuevos materales artísticos y sus posibilidades didacticas, todos ellos extraídos del entorno natural. Ha realizado multitud de exposiciones por toda la geografía nacional, además su obra ha recibido una treintena de premios, nacionales e internacionales.

Carmen Castillo, Universidad de Murcia, Campus Mare Nostrum

Artista y grabadora española doctorada en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia actualmente es profesora de dibujo en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Murcia.

Ha participado en numerosas exposiciones en España, Italia, Francia e Inglaterra, y sus obras se encuentran en varios museos, públicos y colecciones privadas. En sus obras los contrastes entre la luz y la sombra, lo natural y los espacios arquitectónicos y los personaje, se unen dejando entrever el drama de la vida.

Alfredo Cuervo, Universidad de Murcia, Campus Mare Nostrum

Artista y grabador español doctorado en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia en técnicas de grabado y es actualmente el profesor de grabado en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Murcia. Ha participado en numerosas exposiciones nacionales e internacionales y sus obras se encuentran en varios museos, públicos y colecciones privadas. Su trabajo artístico se desarrolla mediante la investigación artística en grabado sobre técnicas y materiales y la incorporación de la fotografía.
