Elementary teachers and their contribution to the teaching of visual arts in schools
Abstract
Students who are provided with learning experiences related to Visual Arts may gain a deeper understanding of reality and a further development of their creative, imaginative and symbolic skills. This fact makes it necessary to improve and integrate different approaches, methods and innovative teaching practices from the pedagogical perspective that is common to the various art disciplines. This paper explores the artistic skills of a group of ten elementary teachers involved in the teaching of the curricular bases of Visual Arts in years 1 to 6 in various schools from the province of Bío Bío in the south of Chile. The use of case study methodology and content analysis of semi-structured interviews allowed the organization of information in dimensions and categories that show, as a result, the complexities, differences and contributions of Visual Arts to the integral development of children in the educational system.Downloads
