A bit more color. Hospital Room Therapy
Abstract
A bit more color, hospital room therapy is a commissioned project developed by the Cultural Association [sen marco] (frameless) whose objective is to eliminate - through art - the hospitalization syndrome or progressive deterioration appearing in hospitalized children due to the feeling of seclusion in the hospital. Based on the idea of subjective spatial perception, collective creative processes and the capacity of art to transform our surroundings, hospitalized children and their parents are introduced to a contemporary process of artistic creation, in which their reality is transformed by modifying a scaled model of their room. At the same time, through this act, they are proposing a profound revision of the current hospital space. The immediate aim is to improve and care for the children’s health and for the state of mind of the admitted minors, the long-term goal being to develop a model of the ideal hospital stay, which would permanently help to eradicate or minimize the pathology of hospitalization. The project is currently being carried out in the Pediatric Unit of the Santiago de Compostela University Hospital in collaboration with CGAC (The Galician Center for Contemporary Art), The Andrea Foundation, The Camilo José Cela School, the artist Mónica Alonso and the hospital itself.Downloads
