Abstract

This study offers a state of the question of the representation of Folk Horror within the audiovisual arts, focusing on the medium of cinema, although without neglecting other more contemporary audiovisual models of representation, such as video games. For this purpose, a diachronic and eminently qualitative analysis has been carried out of this narrative and aesthetic phenomenon, which responds to a sub-genre within horror made up of a series of defining yet complex features. As a methodology, a bibliographical review has been applied, in addition to the brief case study of certain works that are cited throughout the text, which, nevertheless, aims to provide a more general and updated radiography of Folk Horror in the sphere of the audiovisual arts.
