Screen Convergence in the Multimedia Performance Site-Specific

Keywords: multimedia performance, site specific, screen, video, projection, video installation

Abstract

This research work analyzes the case of the site-specific multimedia performance titled dentro, which has pieces and audiovisual projections that represent most of the meanings that a screen can have on stage and whose screens add meaning to the show itself. In its first representation dentro only had a single projection. Currently, after several site-specific performances, dentro has: a projection, an independent underwater video, a video as scenography and a video with which the performer interacts. The result of the study reveals that the use of screens in multimedia performance reinforces and multiplies the dramatic mode of representation, generates a greater impact on the audience, increases public interest and multiplies meanings in the audiovisual and dramatic double narrative; it brings together theatrical, video art and audiovisual audiences and because it is site specific in an art space, a visual arts audience.
