Representations of the Female Figure in Contemporary Spanish Cinema (2010-2020)
Abstract
The main objective of this research is to analyse the audiovisual representations of the female figure in contemporary Spanish cinema over the last decade (2010-2020). Thus, from mainly qualitative research perspective, a case study has been developed with 20 cinema productions that meet a set of defined criteria. One of these selection criteria was the Bechdel test. This selection has been examined following an analysis sheet that includes the items considered most important in accordance with the objectives pursued. Finally, as one of the conclusions of this work, it can be affirmed that in contemporary Spanish cinema the pattern of women changes substantially, moving away from an androcentric model and acquiring the role of independent women.
