Forms of Appearance. The Filmic Letter as an Enigma
Abstract
The phenomenological complexity of the epistolary form increases when moving to the field of cinematography to become the genre of the filmic letter. The displacement of the axis of meaning towards the visual establishes the possibility of detecting new communicative phenomena that have their origin in written correspondence but also in postcards and visual letters, bearing similarities with some renewed modalities of the documentary such as the essay film. The article aims to highlight the particularities of the epistolary film modality as a device for creating subjectivities and expressive forms related to thinking, by means of an essayistic procedure through which a conceptual territory is discovered as it is being built.
