Educational program for the development of knowledge in parents and caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder trough the digital platform ConoceTEA
Abstract
The parent training corresponds to a type of therapeutic approach focused on ecological models where adults have an active role in managing their children by teaching knowledge, skills, and strategies for better performance within the home. Faced with this, it was proposed to increase the knowledge of parents and caregivers of children with ASD regarding the different performance of their children’s diagnosis, through the implementation of an educational training program assisted by a digital platform CONOCETEA. The sample consisted of 22 parents of children with ASD belonging to special schools in Temuco city, who were evaluated before the evaluation through a designed and validated questionnaire, to then apply the educational training program and subsequent evaluation at the end of the program. After evaluating the normality of the data, these were described using the mean and S.D and compared using the T-test, accepting the hypothesis with a value of p<0.05. Regarding the performance evidenced in the evaluation, it was possible to observe an increase in the score of the questions of the questionnaire, obtaining an average of 89.76; S.D 11.99 in contrast to its initial evaluation where a mean of 57.71 was obtained; S.D18.63, these differences were statistically significant with a value in the T-test -7.26 and a p < .001. The educational training for parents of children with ASD assisted using the digital platform CONOCETEA was effective in increasing the knowledge and approach to the diagnosis of their children at home.
