Precopernican Heaven Mathematical Syntax

Keywords: geocentrism, epicycle, apparent retrograde motion, eccentricity, equant

Abstract

Critical analysis of the mathematical syntax of the ethereal supralunar world in which the noetic archetypes are embodied in cleaner dynamic replicas of superior dynamics to those of the sublunar by more adjusted μέθεξις. Area of confluence of Islamic and Christian thought due to its Aristotelian nexus, Astronomy stands out in the Middle Ages as a scientia media (inter scientiam naturalem et mathematicam). The Ptolemaic system of epicycles and deferents is tested in its internal formal coherence as a reliable descriptive model with the positivist solution of the equant (punctum aequans) as an early request for orbital eccentricity (empty focus of the future Keplerian elliptic).
