Sobre las restricciones del verbo ver con la pasiva
Abstract
Restrictions on the Spanish sensory perception verb ver (‘to see’) in passive constructions coappearing with a non-inflected form have to do with the verb itself as well as with its object. Lexical and syntactic reasons for the restrictions are posited, against previous analyses by Felser (1999) and Pollock (1994). The requirement of temporal simultaneity on the object of ver does not apply when there is a passive infinitive or a passive participle in the object, given the temporal value of the dynamic passive with ser. The syntactic reasons have to do with the argument nature of the infinitive and its requirement to be functionally licensed through a Case mark. In reflexive passives ver behaves in a way close to that of auxiliary verbs, but the above restrictions keep it apart from them.
