Abstract

‘Hispano’ is defined as US inhabitant of Spanish-speaking origin, and three goals of linguistic policy for Spanish in the US are set: to get those of Spanish-speaking origin to speak Spanish as well as English; to get the population in general to do the same; and to turn Spanish into the language of the Americas in the US.
