Abstract

‘Old Spanish’ versus ‘Old Castilian’: Dialectological reflexions. Linguistics and not literature or politics should define singleness or plurality regarding languages in medieval Central Spain. The language used today by most Spaniards originated not only in northern Castile, but also in La Rioja, Leon, Aragon. This language has to be called ‘español’ or ‘Spanish’ from its origin, since it was already spoken then in most Spain.
