Abstract

In recent years, the growing interest in the study of Spanish and Chinese phraseology from a contrastive perspective has led to the publication of a large number of related works. With the aim of providing a starting point for all researchers interested in this field, this article offers a general overview of the state of the art in Spanish-Chinese contrastive phraseology studies. For this purpose, the main lines of research are outlined and classified into seven categories: global, taxonomic, pragmatic-textual, semantic, translatological, phraseodidactic and phraseographic studies. Furthermore, the most outstanding works and authors are highlighted in each case and, based on the analysis of the existing literature, research gaps that could be addressed in future studies are identified.
