Alternation of adjectives, adverbs and prepositional groups in the expression of manner
Abstract
This paper analyses the use of nouns (with preposition), adjectives and adverbs in relation to the substantial meaning of manner. This has mainly considered the type of verb with which they are combined, both from the point of view of their transitivity or intransitivity, and from the semantic perspective of the classification of events. On the one hand, it has been quantified the frequency of use depending on the incidence: towards the subject, object or action; on the other hand, with the intention of studying the extent to which there is significant equivalence between adjectives (Entró cauteloso), adverbs (Entró cautelosamente) and nouns (Entró con cautela), the evidence of manner complements and depictive predicatives has been applied.
